Childhood Apraxia of Speech Bilingual Summer Camp Series

July 2019

Part of the profit of the Holistic Kids Speech Camp will be donated to support children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech through sponsorship for

Triangle Childhood Apraxia of Speech Walk 2019 which will take place on Oct. 12, 2019

Aim: The unique nature of this camp is to target each child’s individual learning needs and goals using a combination of therapeutic approaches: Core Vocabulary, DIR/Floortime approach (D: Development, I: Individual Differences, R: Relationship Building), Principles of Motor Learning, Sensory Integration Therapy, Social Thinking, Zones of Regulation and Music & Movement.

Focus:  Activities were developed and designed to promote the development of socialization, communication, motor skills, coordination and regulation while having FUN!

The “intensive, camp model” is to provide children with frequent, quality time with their speech pathologist in conjunction with other children who are learning how to develop and improve social skills.  The purpose of intensity is to provide many opportunities for children to practice using language, speech and social skills with guided instruction, modeling and intervention appropriate for their needs while enjoying developmental activities to help them develop “school readiness” skills.

The camp is designed for children preschool and early elementary grades who are already enrolled or qualify for speech-language therapy due to a communication disorder such as Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Expressive Language Disorder and Receptive Language Disorders in addition to addressing the needs of children with Sensory Processing Dysfunction, ADHD and mild behavior challenges.  The camp is designed to provide sensory-motor, academic, social, and educational enrichment via experiential learning in both a sensory-motorgym, indoor classroom, field trip and community outings format with elements of various educational philosophies.

This year we are excited to offer an extended day that will include field trips and community outings each day.  Some of our outing locations include:
